In a dramatic development at the perjury trial of former Scottish Socialist Party MSP Tommy Sheridan, the prosecution has dropped allegations that the couple lied in court about an alleged sex party at a Glasgow hotel. Tommy and wife Gail Sheridan had both been accused of committing perjury over what was said to have happened at the Moathouse eight years ago. Today they were told the Crown was not going to proceed with that part of its case. Elsewhere, Scotland's top football referees are going ahead with their strike action this weekend but Premier League games will not be called off. The SFA has reached an agreement for officials from other countries to take charge of the matches.
